| Message from the Mayor
Brighton is the right size and the right place for business. For many years our Council has been setting the stage for development and things are in place to assist new commercial and industrial ventures at Brighton.
We are proud of our "can do" attitude to make things happen and our helpful staff fully supported by Council.
We have a "business friendly" rating structure that features:
- Fixed rates for sewer and garbage
- User-pays charges for water
- AAV basis for general rate only.
There are two major areas ready for business: the industrial estate on the Midland Highway between Bridgewater and Brighton and the commercial area at Bridgewater near the intersection of the Midland and East Derwent Highways.
Both are well served by critical infrastructure:
- Water and sewerage
- Electrical power
- Natural gas
- Access to the Midland, East Derwent and Lyell Highways
- Rail access to the north and the Derwent Valley.
I understand that business needs planning certainty for the future. Our industrial and commercial sites are appropriately zoned with adequate buffers to residential areas.I also commend Brighton’s approachable neighbours who are also keen to welcome new operators to the area.
I am very confident of our future and encourage business operators both in Tasmania and from the mainland to consider a move to Brighton.
Please contact me directly or our staff for more information or assistance. I promise that we will do all we can to help.
Tony Foster
