Rates & Water InformationProperty rates are Council's principal source of revenue. Valuations provided by the Valuer-General are used to calculate the rates on each property. Rates are charged for various services supplied by or contracted through Brighotn Council. Click here to view the Brighton Council Rates & Charges for 2009-10 Financial Year.

Payment Options - Rates and Water Accounts:In person (Cash, Cheque, Money Order or Eftpos): Phone (Credit Card only): Internet (Credit Card only): Pay Yor Rates & Water Accounts - External Link Direct Debit is available for Rates Instalments:Direct Debit is a more convenient and quicker way to pay your Rates. When paying your Rates using Direct Debit, you can elect to pay the minimum required (either Weekly, Fortnightly, Monthly, or even on the date the Instalments are due), or you may elect to pay a set amount (Weekly, Fortnightly or Monthly), depending on your budget. Please read Council's Service Agreement regarding the Terms and Conditions of the Direct Debit Agreement. If you wish to proceed with Direct Debit please contact the Rates Office for assistance on your allocated payment amount, then download this application form Direct Debit Form and forward to Council's Rates Office. Change of Details: Anyone wishing to change their Direct Debit Details please download the following Form and return to the Rates Office. Please note that all changes require a minumum of four (4) business days for changes to take effect. Change to Details Form. Pensioner Concessions:If you receive a pension concession or a Health Care Card (not a Commonwealth Seniors Health Card) you may be eligible for a rate remission. For existing pensioners, verified by Social Security or Veterans' Affairs, the remission will be automatically shown as a reduction on your rates notice. If your remission is not automatically shown as a reduction on your rates notice, please call into the Council Chambers and speak with the Rates Officer, to complete your application form, and have the remission applied to your rates. Please note that you will be required to bring your current (in-date) Pension Concession Card or Heath Care Card. New pensioners (if date of grant is prior to 1 July) should complete a remission form before 31 March of each financial year.
