Animal ManagementDogs are an important part of the community and many people value their companionship. Council encourages owners to comply with the Dog Control Act 2000 and ask you to follow some basic guidelines which recognise the rights of all community members:
The Animal Control Officer regularly patrols all suburban areas and an after hours service is available in case of an emergency. If the Animal Control Officer has picked up your dog it will be taken to the Dogs Home at 101 Scotts Road, Risdon Vale, phone (03) 6243 5177. For more information about responsible dog ownership phone (03) 6268 7008 during normal office hours or if an emergency exists after hours phone (03) 6268 7030. To download a current 2009-10 Dog Registration Form, click here. Dog Registrations must be paid by July 31 each year. Failing to pay your Dog Registrations by this date will result in a $10 late fee being applied to the Registration Fee. Failing to pay this Registration again will result in further action being taken against you, the Owner.
New Dog Registrations:If your dog has not been registered with the Brighton Council before, you must register your dog in person at the Council Offices.
Concession Cards:If you are claiming Pension Concession or Health Care Card Concession you must register your dog in person at the Council Offices.
Change of Details to your Dog Registration:If details of your Dog Registration have changed, you should notify Council prior to making payment. This can be done in person or by mail.

Paying Your Dog Registrations:
In Person & by mail Council Offices 1 Tivoli Road Gagebrook TAS 7030 Cash, Cheque Money Orders & Eftpos payments are available in person. Cheques & Money Orders should be made payable to Brighton Council and should be marked "Not Negotiable".
By Phone Call the Brighton Council on 1300 366 740 anytime to make a payment using your Mastercard or Visa. You will need your Payment Reference as shown on the front of your Dog Registration Notice. A small transaction fee will apply at the time of your payment.
By Internet Click here to go to our BPOINT Payments page. You will need your Payment Reference as shown on the front of your Dog Registration Notice. A small transaction fee will apply at the time of your payment.
BPAY Via your Personal online Banking Account or contact your bank, credit union or building society to make this payment from your checque, savings or credit card account. Billder Code and Reference Number are located on the front of your Dog Registration Notice. Brighton Council do not charge any fees for this transaction, you should check with our bank/credit union or building society before making payment if you are unsure of any fees charged.
